In October, we celebrated our fifth anniversary with a trip I had been dreaming about for years: my very first visit to Santa Fe, New Mexico. I’d always heard it was an arts town—home to Georgia O’Keeffe’s legacy, ghostly landscapes like Ghost Ranch, and a creative energy that hums everywhere you go. But nothing prepared me for how full, vibrant, and unforgettable the trip would actually be.
A Charming First Night in Santa Fe
We arrived in Santa Fe and checked into the sweetest little Airbnb for our first night—warm, cozy, and tucked perfectly into the neighborhood. Just around the corner, we stumbled upon Los Poblanos Farm Shop Norte & Bar Norte, a charming market filled with thoughtful goods, local treats, and—best of all—a secret bar tucked away in the back. It felt like discovering a hidden gem, the kind of place that instantly sets the tone for a great trip.
For dinner that evening, we went to The Shed, one of Santa Fe’s classics. From the first taste of their iconic red chile to the inviting atmosphere, it was the perfect, flavorful kickoff to our vacation.
A City Where Art Lives in the Air
From the moment we began exploring, Santa Fe felt like a living gallery. Adobe buildings glowed in the late-autumn light, and every corner seemed to hold a piece of history or creativity. The influence of Georgia O’Keeffe is everywhere—her palette, her landscapes, her quiet intensity woven through the city.
Since this was a special anniversary trip, I brought along several of my favorite Sethi Couture jewels. My Clover Pendant looked right at home against Santa Fe’s warm, earthy tones. I also packed my beloved PS Charm Pendant, which I love pairing with the little elephant charm my sister gifted me—an unexpected but meaningful combination I wear often.

My classic Madison Diamond Necklace added a subtle shine whether we were heading out for coffee or a beautiful dinner, and I couldn’t resist wearing my colorful sapphire ring stack, which somehow matched the hues of Santa Fe perfectly—sunrise oranges, deep blues, grounding greens, and gemstone storefronts everywhere we turned. These pieces became the perfect companions for a trip centered around art, color, and celebration.
Food That Deserves a Celebration of Its Own
We knew New Mexican cuisine was special, but wow. Every meal felt like its own story. From the layered depth of red and green chiles to the sincerity of homestyle dishes, the food was unforgettable.
Dinner at Sazón, a James Beard–recognized standout, was one of the culinary high points—an elevated, artful interpretation of traditional flavors. And of course, we couldn’t miss Café Pasqual’s, where the food is as joyful and vibrant as the space itself. Everywhere, the flavors were bold, soulful, and uniquely New Mexican.

More Shopping Than We Ever Expected
We surprised ourselves with how much shopping we did. Santa Fe’s boutiques and galleries are irresistible—especially for anyone who loves handmade pieces and artistry.

We wandered through charming vintage shops, admired the curated beauty at Shiprock, and explored Rainbow Man, where turquoise, beads, textiles, and jewelry sparkled from every corner. We didn’t expect to find ourselves immersed in such a gemstone-rich world, but it was fascinating and fun to dive into it all.
A Sunrise to Remember: The Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta
One morning, we woke up at 5:00 a.m. to drive to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, and it was completely worth it. Watching thousands gather before sunrise, buzzing with anticipation, waiting for the balloons to lift into the early morning light, felt almost spiritual.
As the sky filled with floating color, it was like watching a dream unfold in slow motion—quiet, surreal, and absolutely unforgettable.

Exploring Northern New Mexico’s Traditions
Though we didn’t make it to Taos this time (next trip!), we did spend time in Chimayó, a peaceful village known for its rich weaving tradition. Visiting the small weaving studios and learning about this centuries-old craft was deeply grounding—a reminder of the beauty in slow, intentional artistry.
A Japanese Retreat in the Mountains
Another unexpected highlight was Ten Thousand Waves. Nestled in the hills, it felt like stepping into a serene Japanese mountain retreat. The spa was calming and immersive, and dinner afterward was the perfect end to the evening. It’s one of those rare places that instantly transports you—peaceful, thoughtful, and beautifully designed.

Already Dreaming of the Next Trip
Santa Fe surprised me in every way—its beauty, its flavors, its art, its history, its calm. It was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary, made even more special by the Sethi jewels that traveled with me as tiny reminders of home, family, and meaningful milestones.
There’s still so much to explore (Taos, we’re coming for you), but for now, I’m holding onto the magic of this trip.
New Mexico truly is the Land of Enchantment—and this October adventure proved it.
