With Bridal Season in the air, I can't think of a better time to share wedding band selection tips. Wedding band trends and traditions wax and wane as we balance independence in expressing our styles while cherishing our cultural history. It is with absolute intention that we have designed our Sethi Stacking Rings to transcend from lifestyle heirlooms to wedding bands meant to commemorate a special milestone. We want our styles to grow with you as your life evolves. Here's a Q&A of the top questions we see when helping our clients select and design their wedding bands to match their lifestyle, trends and personal style.
When researching and shopping for wedding bands, what should we think about first?
What is your day-to-day life like? Are you always outdoors, working with your hands, on the computer, presenting, with kids... the answer to this will help determine what style suits your lifestyle. A lower profile band works if you’re in the medical field, constantly taking gloves on and off. Maybe you're in the public eye and want a more prominent band to make a statement.
Can I wear my wedding set while traveling?
You may not want to take valuable and sentimental pieces while vacationing, to prevent any lost or misplaced items. Of course, you likely will still want to wear a ring that has presence and represents your union. Think about selecting a wedding band that looks not only great with your engagement ring, but has the same wow factor when worn alone. Styled here with the engagement style Deco White Diamond Ring, the Adele White Diamond Band and Bezel White Diamond Band are both travel-friendly wedding bands that work well to frame your engagement ring and are just as stunning when worn solo.
Can I wear multiple stacking rings with my engagement ring?
In true Sethi Couture fashion, absolutely. We love working to build curated ring stacks that complete, complement and ultimately reflect your style and the story within your union. Ring stacks can demonstrate and commemorate the chapters of your love over time. Our Scallop White Diamond Band and Isabella White Diamond Band are great places to start with a curated wedding set ring stack.
Is mixing metals okay? My engagement ring is white gold but some of the bands that I like are another color.
Mixing metals adds character, adds warmth and gives break to tonal saturation. Mixing metals is a gateway into versatility and expanding the horizons of your stacking possibilities. In short: yes, mixing metals is not just okay, but totally encouraged. Our Bezel White Diamond Band can offer a trace of mixed metal to your wedding stack.
What is your opinion on eternity vs. halfway bands?
Of course I love the look of eternity because you see the diamonds all the way around. No matter what position your hands are in you see the sparkle. If you plan on stacking rings over time, eternity bands offer uniform evolution over time. However, from a practical perspective, if you know you are hard on your jewelry, you may want to consider halfway around so you are not putting the diamonds on the bottom half in a position to be hit against many various surfaces. If you fall in love with an eternity band that is out of budget, you can always order the style halfway around to achieve the look that you want.
Is it a faux pas to wear your wedding band on your right hand?
We are seeing more and more of a definite movement to wear your band on the right hand before adding additional bands to create a stack over time. As always, go with what feels right to you. The ultimate purpose is to build a story that is all yours.
We love to hear your stories and help build your personal jewelry journey.
