Salt Lake City Showdown

My daughter participates in club volleyball, meaning we are traveling frequently for her games. Last week, we seized the opportunity to enjoy time together as a family while traveling to the Salt Lake City Showdown. This is no small feat! The Salt Lake City Showdown is a national qualifier with 296 teams from all over the country, along with their support systems: coaches, parents, siblings, grandparents. Energy is bounding for three days straight as the girls compete within windows of joy, tears and exhaustion.

The Jewels I Took With Me

Pratima's Sethi Stack, Camelia White Diamond Earrings, Modern Bezel White Diamond Huggies and Clover White Diamond Charm

With the constant shuffle, I kept an easy ensemble: I am always wearing my personal Sethi Stack, and for lightweight sparkle I added our Modern Bezel White Diamond Huggies with our Enchanted Garden Camelia White Diamond Stud Earrings. For good luck, I donned our Clover White Diamond Charm.

To escape the tournament buzz at the Palace Convention Center, we found a patch of peace during an organ rehearsal at the Tabernacle at the Church of Latter-day Saints. We took in the street art as we jetted around town on electric scooters, and even enjoyed a touch of snow on a quick trip to Park City! While my goals in Salt Lake were largely family-oriented, I could not help but visit O.C. Tanner Jewelers, a retailer within Salt Lake City that carries our Sethi Couture collection. It is rewarding to share the O.C. Tanner store with my family, a beautiful location that was once a public library.

Of course nutrition during these athletic events is important to us, with snacks and meals focused around for protein and energy. When that is all said and done, however, we explored around to find treats: waffles at Bruges Belgian Bistro, kouign-amann at Eva's Bakery, and vegetarian sushi at Takashi. We also enjoyed Nacho Daddy for gourmet nachos and Copper Onion for cacio e pepe... pasta night is good for stored energy, right? My husband and I were happy to get away to the rooftop bar at the Le Meridien for a little adult time after the tournament.

Until next time, Salt Lake City... in the midst of this tiring tournament, it was nice to get to know you.
