Desert Chic: A Family Adventure in Palm Springs

Back to blog

There's something magical about Palm Springs – the way the desert air shimmers with retro glamour and laid-back California cool. When planning a family getaway, I wanted to capture that perfect balance of style and ease, both in our itinerary and my jewelry choices.

Journey to the Destination

Our adventure began with a road trip from SF to Palm Springs – we stopped at a delightful detour to Mattei's Tavern in Los Olivos. This Auberge gem perfectly set the tone for our trip – sophisticated yet welcoming, with that distinctive California charm that makes you want to linger just a little longer.

Our home base in Palm Springs was a perfectly kitschy Airbnb that felt like stepping into a vintage postcard. The private pool became our kids' personal paradise, and I found myself embracing the casual rhythm of desert life – morning swims, lazy lunches, and afternoon adventures.

Activities for All Ages

Speaking of adventures, the Living Desert Zoo Safari was a highlight for our little ones. There's something special about experiencing the desert's wildlife through children's eyes. Later, while the kids napped, we snuck in a grown-up moment at the iconic Parker Palm Springs, sipping cocktails in their famously stylish setting.

Packing for Effortless Versatility

Packing jewelry for a family trip is all about versatility, and I found myself reaching for pieces that could transition effortlessly from pool-side to dinner time. My Confetti Heart Rainbow Sapphire Pendant felt right at home among Palm Springs' colorful doors and vibrant energy. I built my own Sethi Stack with the Mist White Diamond Band and two Rainbow Sapphire Scallop Bands for the perfect mix of playful and precious.

The Leena White Diamond Huggies proved to be the MVP of the trip. Wearing just the gold hoops during day adventures, then adding the drops for evening – they're like having two pairs in one. My Madison White Diamond Necklace and Link White Diamond Band rounded out the essentials, providing that touch of sparkle that makes even casual moments feel special.

What I love most about traveling with jewelry is how it becomes part of the memory – the way sunlight caught my stacked rings by the pool, how the Confetti Heart sparkled against the backdrop of a desert sunset. These pieces aren't just accessories; they're part of the story, adding their own bit of magic to our family adventures.

Style and Practicality Coexist Beautifully

Next time you're planning a family getaway, remember that style and practicality can coexist beautifully. Choose versatile pieces that make you feel like yourself, whether you're building sandcastles or sipping cocktails at the Parker. After all, the best family memories are made when everyone – including mom – feels their best.
